Threadless partner makes a wicked presentation…

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

…about his community-based company and “transparency” in business… Really cool, smart, informative and engaging… but long. Watch it in full if you’re interested in business, brands, and what that has to do with online communities. Threadless is a genius idea at a very appropriate time with excellent decisions behind it. Everyone wishes they thought of it.

I found it on Call me Jeffrey.

And here’s Threadless of course.

April is Autism Awareness Month

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

My cousin sent me a really fascinating story over the weekend that I haven’t been able to post until now:

There is an austic girl named Carly who has a very interesting and inspirational story. She is non-verbal but after years of intervention – she began to type and communicate via her computer. She has a blog  here:

http://carlysvoice.com/

Carly’s Voice

You can even follow her on twitter: http://twitter.com/CarlysVoice

The coolest thing is that she just decided last week that she wanted to be on Larry King Live – so she started an online petition and Larry got word and had her on his show that very thursday via skype with Jenny Mccarthy!

Here is footage from CNN:

My cousin runs an amazing site called Autism Zeitgeist. It’s a website for families and parents in Ontario that provides information on some of the complexities within an IBI program and the standards that apply to the ministry funded ABA program. Check out the site to find out all about it.

Here is the website for Mutsugoto, a project by Tomoko Hayashi, Stefan Agamanolis, Matthew Karau

mutsugoto

This is a really interesting new media project which addresses how current technology and communication is lacking humanism or does not convery the “emotional quality of a physical gesture”… that’s my take anyawy… It’s for long distance lovers, which was a theme Tomoko was working on while we were at the Banff New Media Institute a few years ago as well. I think it’s very beautiful work.

This is neat:

Kristen Rawlins from Joy TshirtsJohn Hilborn on Joy TshirtsMcKinley on Joy TshirtsAndre on Joy TshirtsAnna on Joy TshirtsTayfun on Joy Tshirt

Joy Apparel – You buy a tshirt with a random ordinary person’s face drawn on it. Someone else buys a tshirt with YOUR ordinary random face drawn on it. The cycle continues on and on. The guy who runs it is in Toronto. I am not sure yet if it will change the world like the website claims. Maybe!

Check out: Axe “The Fixers” site.

The Fixers

Content is okay, if not a little broad, but this is an extremely rich and robust site. Makes me pretty excited about the future of interactive stuff and thinking about what is possible in this medium!

Wordpress is pretty awesome

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

It just took me two seconds to change the entire look at my site. I downloaded a theme, unzipped and then uploaded it on my ftp. After I reloaded my presentation tab, the theme appeared, I clicked on it and now it’s done. So simple.
