amigurumi bears

I bought this book with instructions on how to make “Amigurumi” ((編み包み lit. Knitted stuffed toy) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. Amigurumi are typically cute animals (such as bears, rabbits, cats, dogs, etc.), but can include inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features) and I’m learning how to make various things from it:

The patterns in this book are SO cute. However, I wouldn’t suggest it for a beginner. As an inexperienced crocheter, I found the instructions to be very vague and also some of them were incomplete. I had to get my mom and some of my friends to help fill in some of the blanks. Also they are so small that it took me a while to be able to actually use my little crochet hook effectively with the baby weight yarn. Only get this book if you are good at crocheting already. Very great little characters can be made though and this has inspired me to start thinking more artistically in other media as well. The vibe really strikes a chord with me.

I am almost done a few of the tiny bears you see on the cover, but I can’t find proper eyes anywhere in Toronto, so they remain eyeless. If you know where to find some let me know. I think I’m ordering them online… I will post pictures when I finish some. They are seriously so cute.

These are cool and I know how to make them now
