Here is the website for Mutsugoto, a project by Tomoko Hayashi, Stefan Agamanolis, Matthew Karau

mutsugoto

This is a really interesting new media project which addresses how current technology and communication is lacking humanism or does not convery the “emotional quality of a physical gesture”… that’s my take anyawy… It’s for long distance lovers, which was a theme Tomoko was working on while we were at the Banff New Media Institute a few years ago as well. I think it’s very beautiful work.

  1. That is very cool. I didn’t really understand the beauty and humanity of it until I saw the video. Certainly highlights the coldness of most of our current technology.

Still, I hope that in the future, we can connect over long distances in even better ways than drawing on each other with lights. I think it’s going in that direction. Even the explosion in the popularity of video on the internet has started making it a much more human place.
